Merrimack Valley Food Tour

All of us except for some of us at Lawton's

For our 32nd annual 29th birthday, my high school friends and I decided to go back to our favorite haunts for a day of eating. Sadly, many of these old eateries no longer exist! That does make us feel old. We started the day at Dunkin' Donuts for coffee. Then we went to the new Cedar Crest Restaurant for breakfast. Alas, no more coffee jello. Lunch was at Lawton's Famous Frankfurters, which has recently been shored up because it was falling into a canal. Then we had a wonderful strawberry shortcake cake from Piro's Italian Bakery. The final stop on our food tour was the Phoenician, a relatively new restaurant with Middle Eastern food cooked in the style of the former Bishop's Restaurant. We had an assortment of Middle Eastern dishes: baked kibbee, stuffed grape leaves, stuffes squash, etc. It was delicious.
