Wild Parrots

The Happy Couple

Last year we played golf at a course called Lacuna. As we were teeing off, we looked up to see a tree full of green parrots. These wild parrots are not native to Florida, but like many invasive species, they were imported, sold in pet stores, escaped, and bred. So, just like us retirees, they enjoyed the subtropical climate and decided to stay.

This is my first watercolor attempt in my class at the Pines this year. Neil's Aunt Shirley took one look and said, "It's you two--the happy couple." So this painting now has a title.

Wow, that's amazing. You have a real talent for capturing the look of retired bliss! Been practicing?

The green parrots have returned. We were walking through the parking lot into Costco when we noticed that the little trees were green--not with leaves--but with parrots! They are shy and do not like to be stared at, so we pretended not to see the crazy flock as we casually walked by.
