Historic Home on Swinton Avenue
It was time for a change, so my friend Mary Anne and I decided to try a different painting class. We went to Artist's Alley in Delray Beach to take a watercolor class from local artist Pat Kaufman whom I had met at one of the art festivals. She is known for her tropical Florida scenes, especially cottages, flowers, and historic buildings. Pat said she would teach us to paint the way she paints. She demonstrated, we tried her techniques, and then she helped us fix what we had done. It was a lot of fun. I like her style--sunny, tropical, and cheerful. Trying to imitate what Pat does was a humbling experience, but Mary Anne and I learned a great deal, and we feel that we have improved from her instruction.
I'm not sure if this fulfills my New Year's resolution to try something new. What do you think?
