Neil and I were lucky enough to be invited to a good friend's week-long retirement party in Italy in October. The above pictures show L'Antica Vetreria, a former glass factory that was gutted and converted to a beautiful rental villa in Piegaro, a small town in Umbria. Fifteen of us stayed in the main villa plus one apartment below it. We had a beautiful view of the valley, and we were right in the center of town. The eating and drinking were molto bene, including a wine tasting at a nearby vineyard and a cooking lesson with a local chef. We spent much of our time touring the little hill towns nearby--Assisi, Orvieto, Cortona, Castiglione di Lago, and Perugia.

Wow, that looks like a good time - so glad you enjoyed it! I'd love to take a cooking lesson with a chef sometime, my only lessons have been from "the ladies".
