Crafty Woman
Ever wonder how those arts & crafts super stores like A C Moore and Michael’s stay in business? Just take a look at my cellar. In one corner I have an area for my arts & crafts studio. A couple of years ago, I organized my supplies into some cabinets and big plastic bins on shelves. So one day this past week, I was just sifting through the most recent layer of stuff and putting it away before I cleaned.
I have so many supplies that I forgot I even had some of them. As I plowed through the boxes, I found evidence of a myriad of arts & crafts that I have tried over the years: stenciling, scrap booking, stamping, greeting card making, flower pressing, drawing, painting—both acrylic and watercolor, using pastels, and don’t forget tying a macramé wall hanging. Add to these hobbies sewing, quilting, knitting, embroidery, and counted cross stitch.
The one hobby that I have really stuck with is watercolor painting. I credit Bob, my watercolor instructor in Florida, for keeping me going. I love our community watercolor class so much! At the moment I am trying to do a watercolor painting of my dad. I found a faded 1962 photo of him just relaxing on the dock at our summer camp. I have never tried painting a person before; it’s quite a challenge. I just wish I could have Bob’s guidance while I am struggling with my painting here in PA.
I’m also wondering is there an art or a craft that I haven’t tried yet? Well, I guess I could become a hooker. Rug hooking is very popular, and it is a portable craft for an on-the-go crafty woman like me. Now where did I put those craft store coupons?

Hmmm...become "a hooker"! Hah.
Like you, I have a stash of supplies and many, many half-finished projects. I keep saying one of these days I will set-up a group and one night each month we will get together to work on all of those half-finished projects. Sigh, maybe some day.
Well, count me in if you ever set up a craft group.
Oh, I have that, too. Oh well. When I took drawing classes--well the biggest help wasn't the instructor at all,but Betty Smith's book, Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain. I got
it from the library, but then bought it... it' s a fabulous way to think about drawing people! It sounds like a great project!
Thanks for the tip, MM. I've heard of this book but haven't read it. I'll give it a try.
