Swimmin' with the Stingrays

Yep, it's me holding a stingray on Gibb's Cay in Turks & Caicos. It was slippery and soft. Notice my handsome assistant keeping the stingray's poisonous barb from killing me. Actually, this brave fellow licked the stingray's barb just to shamelessly show off. This was a snorkeling excursion on a Princess cruise to the eastern Caribbean. Neil is behind me somewhere on the beach. After this, we saw another tour guide dive for a conch then remove it from its shell and slice it up for us to eat--not me--other people. Snorkeling around the coral was next--complete with barracuda and smaller, prettier fish. All in all, it was a fun day at the beach.

Aghhh! Elizabeth, I'm cringing! You are a far gutsier woman than I. Though I'm sure the tanned, square-jawwed assistant was a pleasant part of the experience!

Oh, the stingrays are very tame. I'm sure they get fed every time a tour comes to the uninhabited island. But, putting a picture of my 62-year-old self on the web in a swim suit, THAT took guts!

That stingray is HUGE! I don't know what I was expecting, but that exceeds it. And I think you look great in a swim suit - as always!
