For as long as I can remember, I have made the same three New Year’s Resolutions every year:
1. Eat healthier.
2. Lose weight.
3. Be less judgmental.
Well, I still crave carbs and sweets, I weigh more than ever, and I think that young people are way too dependent on technology.
Clearly, my former resolutions are not working for me. So I came up with some new ones for 2012 that may be more realistic and doable: I will
1. Take myself less seriously.
2. Become more Zen-like about golf (see #1).
3. Actually listen to my husband all, no, most, no, half, no, SOME of the time.
4. NOT surf women’s clothing web sites after drinking a glass of wine.
5. Spend less time on the comput…

For the record....I think you are the LEAST judgmental person I know; you eat very well (in fact, I envy your ability to plan and execute a healthy meal every night); and you do NOT need to lose weight. I am extremely lucky to count you among my friends and have learned (and continue to learn) so much from you! Happy New Year my friend.
I have to agree with SLB re: your resolutions. It is good that the sense of humor still shines through! I especially like the one about listening to Neil! It was so good to see you last summer so I hope I can see you again maybe this summer! Have a very Happy New Year with all of your family and friends!
Thank you, dear friends, for your kind comments.
I have finally come up with a way to keep resolutions. It's simple, foolproof, and very satisfying. Just make them retroactive. So...after you take down the Christmas tree on the day you planned to, add "don't procrastinate on small household jobs" to the list. And pat yourself on the back.
Ha, ha, GB. That's like writing things on your "to do" list that you've already done for the sheer orgasmic pleasure of crossing them off. In other words, good plan!
